Bad Practice

">

It was very hot today. We left the field around 10am and it was already 89 degrees. At least in the video I look like I'm running. We also practice putting the leash on and off between some of the sequences. Only once out of five times did she not want to put it on . At the end she must have been really hot. When I was putting stuff away she was lying under one of the tables. A truck went by and she didn't go after it. So that was twice on her own she didn't chase cars. I would like to say it was my training but I think it was just plan hot.

I like how you did your video! It might have been hot, but it looks so pretty out in the field, on film it looks like the perfect day to be out playing agility!

I can't believe you did all that in 89 degree heat - and I'm sure there was humidity too!

A lot of dogs would refuse to move in that kind of weather - so it is amazing Miley still kept up that speed.

Love your video - your comments are very funny! It doesn't look like such a bad practice - those weave entries were super hard especially at Miley's warp speed! And yet she got them several times at that speed! Wow! She's still a baby dog and soon she's gonna be unbeatable!

It was around 80 and humid for our class yesterday - don't know how you survived 89!

I don't think the quality of your videos are that bad...

I don't use an HD camera (wish I had one!), yet.... I use a Canon MiniDv. Then, I use Cyberlink PowerDirector software, which allows me to create a file in mpeg4 or mpeg2 mode.

I find these two modes work best for uploading to youtube. I don't use any of the "streaming" modes.

Powerdirector has a lot of quirks, and frequently becomes "nonresponsive". So, if the software you have now allows you to save in mpeg2 or mpeg4, I would try that.

Hope that helps - I know all this can sound like Greek!

She's so FAST! Is this a field you can rent for an hour? It's so cool to be able to go over and over some things and not be taking up class time while everyone else is waiting.

it wasn't all bad- you did a great job of rewarding her when she finally did it.

if she were mine I would be going back to work entries only- 2 and 3 poles until she was getting it from all angles with speed. from watching the video it seems like she doesn't want to collect into the poles- especially when she is going fast.

it won't take much to fix, but you can bet it will be an ongoing problem that will keep popping up now and again!

Thanks everyone. Dawn, its the field that the club rents from one of the club memebers. You pay a yearly fee to use it. The fee is only 75$. Its the club equipment and we keep the equuipment there on their field.
I think your right Amanda. Im going to only work two pole entrances for a while until she gets it.
Sara you not a geek at all. You have wisdom. Thanks
thanks, Diana

It looks like she really needs you to cue a little more collection for that entry as she's going over the double. The times where you showed forward motion past the double, she blew by them. The times you hung back behind the double it seems like she got them. It is hard to tell from a video though since you can't get a true feel for depth perception on a computer screen. It looks like she has the ability to send forward to the weaves (NICE!), so I would try giving her more of a collection cue the obstacle before the weaves on an entry like that.
