Mish Mash Monday

I saw the owl sitting over the water.  I walked all the way around to get a closer shot. He was still there when I got there. All I got were blurry pictures. And when I tried to get closer he flew away. LOL.

Mickey

The squirrel is up the tree. Its a lone tree and the squirrel will have to come down to get across the yard the the other trees.   Mickey is the only dog waiting for the squirrel to come down.

I was taking pictures of the other dogs. I had changed the settings on my camera.

All of a sudden the squirrel takes off and Mickey is on the chase. (sorry its blurry, camera setting wrong)

Then everyone takes off after the squirrel.

The squirrel is all the way to the left on the photo. (Bad shot, sorry)

Squirrel going up the side of the tree.

Dogs missed.

Mickey waits again.

Just extra pictures.

Blind Cross Class

I think I told you I was taking Daisy Peel's on line class on blind crosses.   Im really behind but its ok because its a self study, go at your own pace.   Am I getting better at blind crosses, probably not.(Not due to the class)  But I am seeing holes in my handling,so thats a good thing.

Set up A.  She just kept pulling off Jump #1. Ugh. I feel she has a good send but she just didnt want to do it. Something to work on.

Set up B.  She needed to really collect coming over jump #7. Many times she wouldnt and either landed behind me or dropped the bar.  We've been working on this. This has shown up at trials too.

Set up C.  This set up you push your dog through the threadle (between 10 and 11) then you picked your dog up with a blind cross between 11 and 12 , so your dog is on your right. Man I was so late, my dog would come over 11 and I would have to rear on the flat to get 12. Ack. I tried it with Miley, same thing. Man, Im really hanging out between 11 and 12.  I finally managed to get it. Although Java, not reading the blind well.

Im attaching a video.   Mostly to show you the app Coachs Eye.  Its very cool.  You can slow everything down, pull the video in close and do side by side comparison.  Im still working on Java's running contacts.  She had one miss this week at home. The rest have been good.

Family Picnic

Dog family that is. LOL   This pass weekend I drove to Muncie IN, for Java's family reunion.  Every year the breeder holds a picnic for everyone who has gotten one of her dogs.  I didnt make it last year, its a long drive. This year Lou went with me. I dropped him in Cincinnati to visit his family and then drove the rest of the way alone.  It made it much easier. The drive home was tough. 11 hours, not fun. And it poured down rain the last 2 1/2 hours of the trip.  I think I would break up the trip home with an over night stop some where if I had to do it again.

This is Java's mom. She is just to sweetest thing. Jumping in every ones lap for attention. She is a little smaller the Java.

This is Java's dad. He is also very sweet.  He is little too.

This is Cowboy, he is Java's brother.   He was trying to get Miley to play. (she didnt play). Miley was ok until a lot of dogs showed up. Then she tended to stand off by herself. Or sit in my lap and growl at all the dogs that passed by.  At one point we counted 30 dogs all off leash and hanging out together.

This is Bandit, he is also Java's brother.  Cowboy and Bandit are bigger than Java. I think Bandit's mom told me he measured 17 1/2  inches.

Then there is Elise. She is Java's sister and she measures at 12 1/2 inches. Funny in the size difference huh? And the difference in ear sets too.

I think there are two other siblings but they didnt come.

While we were there Mike gave us all a mini agility lesson.

During one of Java's run , another dog (a husky) got loose and started down the jumps after Java. I was thinking, "holy crap, not here. What if Java turns around with the angry growling ,barking behavior. Then the breeder thinks Im not a good owner and  didnt teach Java the correct things?"  But Java came right to me and I kept her attention on me  until the other person got their dog. Thank goodness.

After agility,  the breeder did an instinct test on someone's BC puppy.  It was very cool to see this puppy work. I took a gazillion pictures. LOL   The puppy would lie down on his own and wait. He would sometimes turn his head to release the pressure off the sheep. Very cool.

This was the breeders dog bringing the sheep into the pen before the puppy instinct test. She calls him "pony boy" because he is really big. I think he might be 19 inches but Im not sure. ( he isnt from Java's litter but some how related)

After this we all just hung out. It was lots of fun and the weather was great.  I have a lot of pictures but wont post them and bore you. LOL

This is Miley and Java when I went to take the herding pictures and they couldnt come. LOL

Ok, I had to post a few more pictures. Last one.

The breeder had a litter of puppies at her house. So cute. I loved this one!  (all puppies are spoken for. LOL)

Mish Mash Monday

Java's running dogwalks have gone from 2.4 seconds to 1.5 to 1.8 seconds.  That could also be why we are having trouble.

Not sure why my tongue is sticking out.

Uh Java, I think thats a miss.

Here we go again!

I drove to Perry Ga for an AKC trial. I only went for 2 of the 4 days.   Its was on and off stormy.

All those pictures were taken the day we got there, Wednesday evening.  My friend was already there , she ran her dogs on Wednesday. (They did only excellent dogs Wednesday).  While I was outside, she it texting me asking me what Im doing out there and didnt I see the storm. LOL , I told her I was trying to get my dogs to go to the bathroom so I dont have to get up at 2am when they decided they need to go.

Thursday I only ran Java.  Miley seem off to me.  She didnt want to play with Java outside.  They usually play chase but she didnt want to. Hmm. She stayed in the crate without barking. She usually barks when I come to the crates wanting it to be her turn. She didnt want a turn all day. Hmmmm.

First up was T2B. The teeter was the third obstacle. It was double sided just like the one she wouldnt get on a couple of weeks ago.  Well she flew off have way up the teeter and then took the wrong tunnel entrance.
She had a nice jumpers run but I did a call to heel over a jump out of the tunnel ( which Ive been practicing) and made her drop the bar.

Then the standard run. She cut in front of me after the weaves. I have no idea why. Then she cut in front of me again  after #6 and went to the dogwalk. She missed the dogwalk contact. Then we went to the table and got back on course. The she flew off the teeter and we left the ring.

When I was leaving the building they were having some type of cow show in the next building. There were signs that no dogs allowed on the grass on that side. There was a sidwalk between our grass and there grass. They brought the cow onto the sidewalk between the two building. They started walking them between our cars to another area. The first building they were grooming the cows and I guess they were taking them to the show building.  Cow pies every where.

At one point a cow got loose and a bunch of people were waving their arms up in the air trying to stop the cow. They finally caught it. You should have seen me trying to get into my car with cow pies all on the ground in front of my doors and not let my dogs or me step in it. My friend's dog took a big mouth full of a cow pie. Yuck!!! The next day, I parked on the other side.

I show up to the trial the next day and a lady has smooshed me out of my set up area.  She pushed my two crates right up again the person next to me and then pushed her stuff right up against the other side of my crates. I dont leave extra stuff at the site but I need more room then just my crates. She had 3 xpens and two crates  her chair and cooler. She had 10 dogs with here. No she wasnt running 10 dogs, I think 2.  OMG, she didnt even say sorry when I moved my stuff across the hall. WTF!! I was so pissed. Did she think I should climb over stuff to get to my dogs. Its just put me in such a bad mood. What is wrong with people???  I would never have done that to someone.

Miley seem like herself again. Barking in the crate and played chase with Java. So I thought I would run her in jumpers and if she dropped a bar, leave the ring.
She was freaking awesome. Whoohooo. We Qed and took 3rd place.

I wasnt sure if I should run her in standard but at the last minute I decided to.

This course ate up the big dogs. So many dogs took the wrong tunnel entrance after 13. I think because if you were on the inside and the dog was turning that direction, so when they took the panel jump they saw the wrong entrance.  Anyway Miley did great until after the tire. I have no idea why she didnt turn into the weaves. She went off course. I told her right and called her  but she still went off course. Darn it, we were soooooo close!!!

Java had a nice jumper run but I called her over #11 because a lot off dogs went off course over 6 so she dropped a bar. I didnt need to call her. Ugh. No video because the girl taping forgot I was in 16 inches.  So she didnt get it. Well she got the last part.

In standard  she missed the dogwalk, again.  I even did a lead out thinking it would cause extension. But you can see in the video she isnt extending enough. I could tell by the third hit she wasnt going to make it. I wonder if she thought it might be the teeter? I put my arm up too soon over #4 and pulled her off. The she didnt get on the teeter at all.

It was really hard for me to write up this trial post. Way to depressing. The teeter issue has taken me over the edge and makes me want to quit agility.   I just cant handle it.  Something must have happened in the ring on the teeter 2 weeks ago that spooked her.   When I was at the practice jump, they had the teeter and a-frame sitting again the wall. The practice jump was maybe 2 feet from it. When I practiced a rear cross, she took the jump and went on the teeter without a problem.  I did take her off the teeter.  But makes me think she isnt scared of it, it has to do with the ring.  So how to fix it since you cant train in the ring? There are some b-matches but few and far between.  There is a b-match in August but its a day that Im suppose to work registration for school. Ugh!

At the beach (again)

I was at an AKC trial in Perry Ga on Thursday and Friday. Then I drove home Friday night. Saturday my husband and I drove down to Seabrook Island. We had to get into the condo between renters. So we only had a short window to do it. Its been so rainy and cloudy here but it was beautiful out on the beach.

The dogs had a good time.

Java even got in the water.

Where's Waldo.  How many little brown birds can you find in the dead grass area?

The dolphins were out but fishing on the other side of the river so I didnt get any good shots.
