Trial update

We went to a USDAA trial at the beach.  Drum roll please......... Miley got on the table!!!!  WhooHoo!!

Sunrise

First up was gamblers
I had timed it and figured I be right at the tunnel to start the gamble but we had time left before the buzzer so I had to add a few obstacles.  On this run I wanted to try a few things to see where we were.  I tried to threadle #2 to#3 ( my numbers) but she back jumped it . So something that still needs work. I also tried to wrap my #7 because I keep making her drop the bar at home.  Well we dropped it here too. So another thing to still work on.  But she held her start line, did all her contacts correctly and weaved too.  Watch her jump in the air at the end of the video.

Next up was standard.

I really didnt think she would get on the table.  But she got right on.  I didnt know what to do.  Should I run out of the ring and celebrate or keep going.  Ugh!  I really just couldnt decided so I chose to stay.  I hope it wasnt the wrong decision.  There were two jumps after the table and then turn into the weaves.  I decided to RC #9  because so many dogs just didnt seem to know they were going to the weaves when the handler post turned.  But Miley missed the weaves and then stressed. Ugh!!!!!  I couldnt get her back.  I hope I didnt transfer the table stress to the weaves.  She has missed the weaves at other trials and I just bring her around and she does them.  Maybe she just needed to blow off steam after getting on the table.  I hope thats all it was. I know the end of the video isnt good but  you have to take the good with bad.

Well, this was depressing.

I decided to go through my trial journal to see when exactly  my table issue started.  It was really depressing seeing what went on.  Why didnt I do this sooner?  Why was I writing all this down if I wasnt going to read it? ( dont feel like you need to read this or comment. I really just did it for my own benefit)

09/27/08   1st trail(akc) ,   jumped on and off the table several times.
09/28/08   got on table
12/20/09   2nd trial(usdaa),  got on table
01/2409    3rd trail (akc)   didnt get on table.
01/25/09   got on table, took a long time to go into a down.
04/04/09  4th trial (akc)   got on table.  It was the only day I wrote stuff about the trial.
04/19/09   5th trial ( akc)  got on table.
05/30/09  6th trial (akc)   ran by table.
05/31/09   ran around table 4 times.
This next trial is when I realized I really had a problem.  wonder why I didnt notice it sooner?  It was already a problem. A big problem. Ugh!
07/02/09  7th trail (akc)  got on table without any problems.
07/03/09  I didnt write anything about the table being a problem. but got whistled off the course for training in ring.
09/19/09 8th trail. (akc)  jumped on and off the table, then circled me a lot.
09/20/09  wouldnt get on table.
09/25/09  GCOC trial,  This was our trial.I didnt write anything for the 3 days.
10/10/09  10th trial (akc).   did a great table.
10/11/09  No sure about the table on this run.
10/17/10 11th trial (akc)  I didnt write anything about the table
10/18/10  again didnt write anything about table
11/7/09 12th trial (akc)  jumped on and off table and circled me 3 time times
11/08/09  jumped on and off table I moved on .
12/30/09 13th trial,  I didnt put her on the table on this run
12/31/09 didnt put her on table
01/1/10  got on table on 2nd try.
01/22/10 14th trial.  (akc), wouldnt get on table, stress circling
01/23/10  didnt have her do the table
02/20/10 15th trial,  (akc)  didnt have her do the table
02/21/10  didnt have her do the table
02/27/10 16th trail (usdaa)  didnt do any runs with table
03/13/10  17th trail (akc)  Looks like I couldnt avoid. the table so she jumped on and off and we kept going
03/14/10  didnt have her do the table.
04/03/10 18th trial, Looks like I didnt enter standard
04/09/10 19th trial. didnt get on table.
04/11/10  didnt have her do the table.
04/24/10 20th trial ( usdaa) didnt do any runs with tables
05/01/10 21st trail. (akc)  didnt have her do the table
5/29/10  22dn trail (usdaa) didnt do any runs with tables
7/3/10 23rd trail. (akc) didnt get on table started circling.
7/16/10 24th trail (usdaa) ran standard.  Didnt try to get her on the table. Just had her come next to me, and sit right next to the table. That was no problem.

So out of all the runs that I have table information on, and ones that I attempted to get her on the table, 6 times she got on without any problems,  14 times showed some type of problem.  I went through my course maps to see if I wrote anything else down, when I didnt write it in the trial journal.  I just cant go through the video right now. Its to depressing.  When I start feeling more positive and feeling  like I cant tackle this problem again, Ill go through the video.

So lets see something happy and beautiful!

Having a plan

Its amazing how much better you feel if you have a plan. A plan to try and fix things that are broken. So whats my plan. Well for my son it goes like this. By Tuesday he was to give the the name of a math tutor with the days and times of tutoring ( at least twice a week). He was to stop by the academic assistance center today and talk to them and tell them he needs help. I sent an email to the head of the academic assistance center requesting help. And guess what. Lou did it all. Maybe he is listening to me. The head of the academic center said she talked to Lou. They worked up a plan. And he was coming back that afternoon to meet with a tutor to help him with a computer class and math. He will also receive math tutoring with another person too. WhooHoo. I hope it helps. At least I know I tried and didnt just let him fail. And if he still cant make it after all this , well then he comes home. And we go from there.
Next, Mileys table. Im going to not do any tables at a show at least until April, maybe longer. Im teaching her to get on a mat thur shaping. Once she really gets it, Im going to start the relaxation protocol on the mat. Once she gets all that. Im going to transfer the mat to the table. Im going to rename the table. Not sure what name Im going to use. "mat, Hit-it," who know yet. But thats the plan.

B-awful

So we got to the b-match by 12noon. Its hard to believe that the last 2 days have been sunny and 70. Now its raining and 36 degrees. And everything is a mud mess. The run through went quickly because there weren't that many dogs running. They had 2 ring with the same course, so that helped too. My plan was run with Miley's leash on to the table. Then run out of the ring and give her a treat. ( no treats are allowed in the ring). My first run we did this several times. She was pulling on the leash to the table. So I took the leash off and started and she jumped right on the table. We did a couple of jumps and then left the ring. OK, that was good, right? Just wait. I decided to go over to the other ring and run there. I did the same thing and she did well. We did another run and I decided not to use a leash. She jumped on and off the table and then ran huge laps around the ring. I got her back and did a another sequence and again when it got to the table, jumped on and off the huge laps around me. I couldn't get her back and walked out of the ring. She came running after me. I picked her up and put her in her crate. Then I left the building. I was so upset. I guess I thought she needed to understand that I want her to get on the table and once she did that things would be fixed. LOL , I know silly. It didnt break in a day and wont get fixed in a day. I went and got some lunch. I called my husband and said I was coming home. I didn't need to waste all this money when my dog wont even get on the table. Im at a complete lose on how to fix it. Just wanted to give up on agility all together. My husband was very nice and told me to just run the jumpers run tomorrow. All this for one run. Not! Then I called Meagan. She was very nice and told me to go back and run another run. Don't put Miley on the table. Walk a course without a table. Then really reward her at the end. We did this and she was awesome. Fast and perfect , even the weaves. WhooHoo. I really needed that mentally. It made running fun. Then Meagan wanted me to run again. Put Miley one jump in front of the table. I did this, Miley wouldnt get on and did a lap around me. I got her back on course came back around and tried the table again. No go, running laps around me. Ugh! I couldnt get her back and ran out of the ring. Miley came to me. I took her my the colar ( not mean) and brought her to the table and made her get on. I praised her.( I had a tug n treat bag with me hoping that would get her on the table. It didnt work). So after I made her get on the table. I sent her to a jump, had her wrap it and back on the table. She did it! I opened the treat bag on the table. It had on piece of liverwurst in it and I let her eat it. ( I know it was against the rules to have a treat in the ring but at this point I didnt care anymore). Then we left the ring and had a party. We didnt do any more runs. I took her out to the barn and threw the chuck-it. I think she had a lot of pent up energy. It was kinda dark but we did it for about 20 minutes. This dog is never tired.
