Ugh!

This is what I did today after work. This was all filmed right in a row even though the daylight looks different.

What a bummer, and really strange. I would have probably done it multiple times just like you did.. I have such a tendency to want to do things over and over!

I bet you'll be ok, though. Just work your way back up.

Ahhhhhh Miley! What, you did it perfect for her and she wants more proof, ey? So now you're not sure it was so perfect? Come on girl...just give her another good one and she'll be happy...promise!

Ugh! I just hate it when I keep pushing a training session past when I should stop. I always leave wondering why in the world I didn't just stop when I was ahead.

I don't think you've ruined your mat though. Just give it a day or two and try it again. She looked really good at the start of the video. I think you are really making progress. Don't beat yourself up too much. We've all been there.

Maybe Miley does not like you to send her from a long distance? Why not build up the distance slowly? Just encouraged her to do that with confidence?

I did the same thing yesterday with our matwork. Pushed the limit. I just didn't videtape it! LOL.

Miley looked so awesome in the beginning of the video and your commentary had mom laughing from the title on....

Don't worry - you didn't ruin anything. We all do that - keep training when maybe we could've stopped. All you found out is that a repetition of the distance send to the mat was too much for Miley that day. I agree with Lian to just go back and build up to the distance again. And give Miley lots of chances to succeed again at the closer mat work that she was doing so well. I can tell that the mat work is really working for her so don't give up or get discouraged!

i don't think you ruined it, although probably a bit of set back. you'll get it fixed, and will remember this and not get greedy next time!

what she did before the melt down looked great though!!!

Were you able to decrease the distance and fix it? It looked really good at first, sometimes though it looks like she runs to the mat and waits until you turn to her to decide to down, instead of really looking like an automatic down on the mat like she usually does- I wonder if that was the start of testing the criteria????

Been there done that! We all make mistakes in training and luckily our dogs are very forgiving!

Why were you trying to send her from such great distance to the mat? Would you send that far to the table?

Morganne, I was just trying to make sure she knows the cue for the mat. I figured if she could get it from a distance, then she knows it. I know, stupid. Diana
