1/2 Marathon

No not me. My husband ran a 1/2 marathon today.  We got up at 4am and drove down to Folly Beach.  We were going to leave last night  but I was to tired.  Yesterday Stephanie and I drove up to USC Upstate to look at the college.  I was very impressed.  To bad it was freezing cold, 34 degrees, pouring down rain and windy. It was just miserable weather.  So walking thur the campus was not pleasant but we survived.  If I had been dressed more appropriately like rain pants and my bog shoes than it would have been fine but I didnt want to embarrass Stephanie.
So we get down to Folly driving thur the rain the whole time. But when we get there it stops raining. I took the dogs for a 45 minute walk on the beach while Lou got ready to run.  When it was almost time to run, I put the dogs back in the car. Here's before the race.
As soon as the took off running it started pouring down rain. It continued to pour the whole time.  Im mean pour!  All I kept thinking was blisters on everyones feet from running with soaked shoes on.

Here is Lou coming over toward the finish line. See that huge puddle. They were all along the route.

I was so happy he made it and made his goal of finishing under 2 hours. As soon as he finished it stopped raining.

I took some pictures while he was running.

Then we decided to go home instead of spending the night at the beach.  It was just so miserable at the beach. So I took the dogs for another walk before we left.

Sorry the weather was so bad for the run! Your husband is dedicated to still want to participate in those conditions! It's very cool that he met his goal!

The beach is always pretty no matter what - love the dog photos as always!!

Congratulations to Lou for finishing! Especially in such horrible conditions.

Love the photo under the boardwalk (or whatever that is).

Your pics are just gorgeous! I always look forward to seeing them. We don't live anywhere near a beach, but I l love the ocean and the beach so much.

As for your husband, he is either very courageous or very crazy! Or maybe a little of both.LOL Either way thats a great accomplishment and it's great he gets to do what he loves.

It's nice to get caught up with you. I've been getting behind in everyones blogs.

Great pictures of the dogs on the beach!

What a trooper- he's tough to do a 1/2 marathon, let alone one in the pouring rain! That's awesome!

Your pups are so pretty on the beach- such great posers too :)

Congratulations to Lou! Great job in less than ideal conditions. When I used to train for events like this it would rarely occur to me that it might rain on the EVENT! How could it! It's so hard to complete a long run in rain. He did great!

And your photos are just so wonderful, love the dogs, of course, but also really love that one of the dock thing...the one taken just after the one of Lou finishing...very cool!!

wow, how fantastic he did that with that type of weather-he should get extra points for that!. The pictures are so pretty, but boy it looks chilly!

Love the damp dog photos. Living about as far away from a beach as you can get, I am fascinated. My dogs would love it.

Hopefully your husband's next race will have more enjoyable weather.

I'm so glad your husband met his goal! That's really cool. My primary doctor competes in triathlons and she always has great stories.

I loved the pictures.

Thanks so much for commenting on my trial post. I really like your idea of thinking of 3 things right away that were positive. Our next trial is in two weeks, and I'll try that every run. Everything you said makes perfect sense. Thank you again!

How neat! I've run a number of 5Ks but never a half marathon. I'd love to train up for one sometime! I love the fog too :)
